The return to LaMar Pond in Interrupted Lullaby is well worth the trip Feisty widow and mother of twins Maggie Slade has been in hiding since the death of her husband She s worked hard to hide her identity and keep her children safe But someone has found her.Lieutenant Dan Willis has been looking for Maggie since she disappeared He arrives in the nick of time to thwart Maggie s attacker for now If he wants to keep her safe, he ll have to keep her and her children close As danger mounts and the threat to Maggie grows, so do their feelings for each other Can they discover who s after Maggie and neutralize the threat before it s too late to save their livesand their hearts This was a quick read that gripped me from beginning to end The suspense and high stakes scenes kept their intensity and ramped up each time, keeping me turning the pages But it was Maggie and Dan, and Maggie s adorable twins, that really made the story Maggie s strength and fierce love for her babies perfectly complemented Dan s strong but tormented character I would recommend this one to anyone looking for a short, suspense packed romance with strong main characters and two adorable and amusing babies. I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller, even than the first LaMar Pond book, Presumed Guilty It builds on the acquaintances already made in the other book, and this book is about two of those side characters, Maggie and Dan I really enjoyed the relationship between these two And the babies were precious I also really appreciated the Christian message of Maggie learning to trust God again after pushing Him out of her life years before.I liked to see some signs of manhood in Seth and will be glad to read his story next monthI m also hoping for an Irene story at some point Content attraction, one kissLanguage squeaky clean Very good book with enough action and suspense to keep me hooked to the end Maggie has been living under an assumed name to keep herself and twin children safe, unable to trust anyone, especially the police Her husband had been shot and killed by a policeman For eighteen months she has managed to keep hidden, until the day she came home to find an attacker waiting for her.Dan has spent months looking for Maggie As one of the jurors in a case where they were being murdered see Presumed Guilty , he has been concerned for her safety When he checks out a tip about where she is, he arrives just in time to save her from the attacker Taking her and her kids back to LaMar Pond is the only way to find out who is after her and why.The suspense of the story builds in intensity as Maggie, Dan, and the others get closer to finding out who is behind the attacks Things get really interesting when a secret about her husband is revealed Though devastated by what she learned, Maggie is determined to do whatever is necessary to put an end to the threat The final confrontation had me on the edge of my seat as Maggie struggled to survive and Dan raced to the rescue.I really enjoyed the growing relationship between Dan and Maggie After being on the run for so long, it is difficult for Maggie to learn to trust again I liked the way that Dan understood that and was patient with her fears Dan is a man that is haunted by things that happened in his past as a soldier His guilt over one particular event has an effect on the protectiveness he feels toward Maggie and her children I loved seeing how sweet he was with the kids, and how much he wanted to become part of their lives There are things that happen that have him convinced that it is impossible I loved Maggie s support and understanding as she learns of his fears The realism of the ending, as Dan decides what he has to do to make a future with Maggie possible, was fantastic The epilogue was really sweet. The secondary characters were great I loved seeing Jace and Melanie from the first book Maggie s newly found half brother Seth was pretty adorable in his excitement in having a sister and a niece and nephew I am very intrigued by Dan s boss and friend Paul I hope that he gets his own story, as I suspect it would be a good one, given the hints that were dropped during this book. This is my first Love Inspired Suspense storyI think It s not a line I usually read as I m a cosy girl than a thriller fan. This is the story of Maggie Slade who has been on the run for eighteen months after seeing her new husband murdered by a cop During that time, she gave birth to twins.Dan Willis is the cop who has been looking for missing person Maggie all that time Expecting her to turn up dead, he did not expect her to turn up with twins.Unfortunately, the moment he finds her, someone else does, and their agenda is a lot dangerous.I had a slow start with this story but once the action kicks in, it s pretty much a roller coaster ride and kept me engaged right to the end Maggie and Dan both had pasts that impacted on them and made it hard for them to see a future The inspirational element was strong without being annoying but it was definitely there.Overall it was a good read with plenty of action and a believable mystery and sweet romance This is the second book by this author and is loosely linked to the first by common characters I will have to go back and read the first as I d got the order wrong.
